iPhonography  Staying Connected

It was a great experience… Great learning opportunity… Teamwork… Meaningful… Just a beginning… Will be releasing “The Key” next week. Stay tuned.

Well, it’s Friday night. I usually would be packing for another busy Saturday filming a wedding… It’s different this time, simply because the wedding season has come to an end! Weekends are back to “normal”.

What a season it has been! It exceeded my expectations. By the Grace of God, we blew through our goal for 2013. NOT only that, 2014 is expected to be EVEN better! Lots of connections were established. Many doors were opened, some were closed… But at the end of the day, my heart is full of thanksgiving!

We have captured some amazing stories. Now the time has come to catch up on some editing and start working on some personal projects. All the teasers are out! But to finish it off for 2013, here is short but sweet teaser from Katy & Kab’s wedding in Monterey. Another amazing couple, with a beautiful story.

John 14:6

"Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

I got an email from Whitney and we were set to meet the day after. After introducing myself and my business we were signed to cover Joe & Whitney’s EPIC day! After three months the day has finally arrived. I always look forward to backyard weddings now (this being my second one). They create a very interesting and intimate environment…

Joe & Whitney are awesome. Very relaxed and transparent people. Their love is pure and full of joy. It was very easy to work with them.

With this teaser (and feature film being produced later) I tried to create a simple piece. But the one that will also reflect their sincere love.

With every trailer that I create, I always try new ideas. After searching HOURS for a song, I stumbled upon “Requiem” by Motion & Lights from TheMusicBed. It was an instant fit! After cutting their prerecorded vows, I knew I had to emphasize them in some creative way… Thus the “wording” idea came. See it above!

"Your talent is God’s gift to you. What you do with it is your gift back to God."

This latest piece comes from a beautiful wedding filmed in Burson, CA. The ceremony as well as the reception took place at Dodasa Ranch. The venue itself (there is still some work in progress) is not really advertised, so not that many weddings are happening there at this point. Leaving this place somewhat untouched.

The silence is what captures your attention at first. Then you have a beautiful oak tree to create a shadow for your mid-day ceremony, and of course an open barn that gives your reception a fresh feel.

I met Alexis and Tony through WeddingWire. I felt instant connection with them as soon as we met. The consultation went smoothly and I was excited to be a part of their EPIC day!

As soon as I heard Tony’s vows, I knew that I’ll be using them for an opening scene for my teaser as well as the feature film. Such rich wording, helped me to create the mood I was looking for.

Tony and Alexis create a perfect balance between each other. The whole day went smoothly, the ceremony was beautiful, and the last song was complete with the huge group hug!

Enjoy this piece.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Matthew 11:28

When Ian & Jessica decided to go with Epic Studios, their wedding became one of those celebrations I’ve been waiting for the most in 2013. It was my first backyard wedding ever filmed! I offered them the coverage of their rehearsal dinner as well, where I realized the amount of love they share between the families and friends of Ian and Jessica. Through out the filming process I wanted to make sure that I captured all of that. We’ve acquired some beautiful footage. The entire celebration was very intimate yet grand. Ian & Jessica have something very beautiful and we are extremely honored for the chance that was given to us to be a part of their EPIC day! We look forward to be working on their feature film. It’s going to be AWESOME!

Say hello to my favorite animal…

"By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith." - Hebrews 11:7

I decided to take a break from editing here and write something. It’s a true commitment to keep this blog updated, so it became a bit of a challenge for me to keep it that way. Lots of editing has been done in the past few weeks. Lots of learning, research, studying, all to keep our work relevant, improving, and of course - EPIC! This year is a record breaking year for Epic Studios and a testimony in-the-making season for me personally. Everyday I reflect on God’s goodness, with thanksgiving in my heart! If not HIS amazing grace, I would not be here writing this with such boldness.

Speaking of Epic, the wedding season is still far from being DONE. We are currently putting two teasers together, but the one above is one of my favorites! It was probably one of the most challenging projects I approached this year. I met Reena and Neel through some mutual friends and photographers at MDC SF. I had zero experience with south Asian weddings at that moment, so I knew that there will be some learning! At the end of it all, what an experience it has become! Definitely a highlight of this year. Reena and Neel were totally awesome, Ajay and Thi were super helpful! I knew the teaser had to be EPIC, but I didn’t have to try too hard… The energy, colors captured, all was EPIC! If you haven’t seen this, I would recommend to do so :)

At the end, Reena and Neel were satisfied and I was happy. Mission accomplished! I just can’t wait to start working on their feature film! It’s going to be one word… EPIC!

Vic is Out!

I have recently got an inquiry through my website, and the person who was contacting me mentioned my “blog”. That is when I realized, that there is someone out there who actually reads it! That gave me some sort of a boost to write this post… Maybe, somewhere down the road I will pick up the pace and produce more writing on this digital wall, but at this point it’s just a dream.

Well, as always. I’ve been staying busy. Learning new things. Gaining knowledge from mistakes AND accomplishments. Meeting new people. Remembering old people. But most importantly I’ve been discovering how good God really is.

The revelation that I recently received, changed my perspective on just about anything in life. The potential that we all have is just tremendous! Anything you touch WILL prosper!

Speaking of prosperity, I’ve had a privilege to participate and capture one beautiful celebration a little over a week ago. It was a 15 year anniversary celebration. I met the couple through a great photographer friend, Brian.

The moment I met Katherine and Salvador, I knew we were off to a good start! They made my job so much easier. Their love truly illuminated through them. And believe me, that is what we are looking for! True emotions, raw feelings, all results in some beautiful shots! I definitely look forward to putting their feature film together… For now you have just the teaser to enjoy. One of my favorites!

In just a few days I will be in Costa Rica. But I shall return with more…
